JULY 2017 REGIONAL UNEMPLOYMENT RATE ANNOUNCED

 

CareerSource Capital Region Expands List of Programs Eligible for Financial Aid

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – According to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, the regional unemployment rate for Gadsden, Leon, and Wakulla counties was 4.2% for July 2017.

The region’s rate was 0.9% lower than the region’s rate for July 2016. Wakulla County’s unemployment rate remained the lowest in the Capital Region with 3.7%. Leon County followed at 4.1%. Gadsden County was at 5.5%. 

The top advertised occupations in the Capital Region in July 2017 were as follows:

  • Registered Nurses (387 jobs)
  • Computer Systems Analysts (221 jobs)
  • Software Developers, Applications (167 jobs)
     

“We are pleased to see continued job growth in our region,” said CareerSource Capital Region CEO Jim McShane. “As people in our community plan to advance their careers, we encourage anyone who is interested in pursuing further education at a technical school or certificate program to learn about the financial aid that we have available to help them pay for tuition, books, fees, and exams.”

Earlier this month, CareerSource Capital Region announced the addition of two new programs to its list of approved providers:

  • Lively Technical Center – Commercial Foods and Culinary Arts
  • Gadsden Technical Institute – Advanced Patient Care Assistant

Career seekers who are interested in applying for financial aid can visit a local career center or www.careersourcecapitalregion.com to find out if they qualify for up to $10,000 in financial aid. A full list of eligible programs is available to download here.
