Regional Unemployment Rate Announced for December 2023 

CareerSource Capital Region offers Job Search Strategies, Apprenticeships, and Paid Internships
  

GADSDEN, LEON & WAKULLA COUNTIES, Fla. – According to the FloridaCommerce, the regional unemployment rate for Gadsden, Leon, and Wakulla counties was 3.0 percent for December 2023. This rate was 0.7 percentage point greater than the region’s year ago rate of 2.3 percent and was 0.1 percentage point above the state rate of 2.9 percent.   

 

Wakulla County’s unemployment rate remained the lowest in the Capital Region at 2.8 percent. Leon County followed at 3.0 percent, and Gadsden County at 3.4 percent.   

  

In December, the labor force was 202,083, up 6,856 (+3.5 percent) over the year. There were 6,098 unemployed residents in the region.  

  

The top six advertised occupations in the Capital Region in December 2023 were as follows:  

  

  • Registered Nurses  

  • Retail Salespersons  

  • Sales Representatives, Wholesale and Manufacturing Except Technical    and Scientific Products 

  • First-Line Supervisors of Retail Sales Workers 

  • Customer Service Representatives 

  • Fast Food and Counter Workers

As of January 19th, there are 951 jobs posted at www.EmployFlorida.com, the State of Florida jobs database CareerSource Capital Region uses Employ Florida to match career seekers to open positions. Apprenticeships and Paid Internships, often referred to as work experience programs, are invaluable pathways for individuals to immerse themselves in various industries. These opportunities not only provide hands-on experience but also serve as a bridge between education and the professional world.
