Once you determine you need to downsize:

Downsizing can have a traumatic effect on workers, employers and the community. Our Rapid Response Coordinator can help you manage a closure, lay-off, or reduction-in-force while helping your employees adjust to the change and/or re-enter the job market.

What we can do for you and your people if you must layoff staff:

  • Counsel employees to provide them critical information on filing for unemployment and using the services of our centers to help find their next job;
  • Help to obtain training funds for employees who need to upgrade their skills;
  • Facilitate meetings and workshops to provide information on career services available to employees;
  • Conduct on-site unemployment insurance information sessions;
  • Assist with exclusive and industry-sector job fairs;
  • And more.

What you need to know before you begin a layoff action:

Some employers are required by the “Worker Adjustment & Retraining Notification Act” to file a “WARN” notice 60 days in advance of a plant closing or layoff. If you’re not sure if your business is required to provide notice, review information click here.
