Regional Unemployment Rate Announced for MAY 2022

$300,000 in Financial Assistance available for eligible residents

ages 16 & over in the Capital Region!

           

TALLAHASSEE, FL – According to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, the regional unemployment rate for Gadsden, Leon, and Wakulla counties was 2.5 percent for May 2022.The region’s May 2022 unemployment rate was 1.7 percent lower than the region’s year ago rate of 4.2 percent and was the same percentage rate to the state’s rate of 4.2 percent. Wakulla County’s unemployment rate is the lowest in the Capital Region at 2.0 percent. Leon County followed at 2.5 percent. Gadsden County was at 3.1 percent. There were a total of 4,913 unemployed residents in the Capital Region.
 

The top six advertised occupations in the Capital Region in May 2022 were as follows:
 

  • Registered Nurses
  • Software Developers, Applications
  • Managers, All Other
  • Sales Representatives, Wholesale and Manufacturing, Except Technical and Scientific Products
  • Retail Salespersons
  • First-Line Supervisors of Retail Sales Workers

In addition, CareerSource Capital Region may provide financial assistance for up to $10,000 to eligible residents attracted to these training opportunities.
