Regional Unemployment Rate Announced for March 2021

Jobs, jobs, jobs!  Call CareerSource Capital Region if you’re looking for work.

 

TALLAHASSEE, FL– According to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, the regional unemployment rate for Gadsden, Leon, and Wakulla counties was 4.6 percent for March 2021.  This rate was 0.5 percentage point lower than the region’s year ago rate of 5.1 percent and is 0.7 percentage point lower than the state rate of 5.3 percent.

 

Wakulla County’s unemployment rate remained the lowest in the Capital Region at 3.6 percent. Leon County followed at 4.6 percent, and Gadsden County at 5.6 percent.

 

In March, the labor force was 190,198, down 2,729 (-1.4) over the year. There were 8,793 unemployed residents in the region.


The top six advertised occupations in the Capital Region in March 2021 were as follows:
 

  • Sales Representatives, Wholesale and Manufacturing Except Technical and Scientific Products
  • Software Developers, Applications
  • Managers, All Other
  • Registered Nurses
  • Retail Salespersons
  • Customer Service Representatives

 

Currently, there are over 600 jobs posted at www.EmployFlorida.com, the database CareerSource Capital Region uses to match career seekers to open positions.  Some examples of available jobs include Retail Sales, LPN, Abuse Counselor, TV Production Manager, CDL Driver, CNC Operator, Residential Helper, Graphic Designer, and many others.
