Regional Unemployment Rate Announced for JUNE 2021

CareerSource Capital Region TikTok Challenge to Showcase

Youth and Jobs They Dream Of!

           

TALLAHASSEE, FL – According to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, the regional unemployment rate for Gadsden, Leon, and Wakulla counties was 5.4 percent for June 2021.The region’s June 2021 unemployment rate was 2.8 percent lower than the region’s year ago rate of 8.2 percent and was 0.3 percentage lower to the state’s rate of 5.7 percent. Wakulla County’s unemployment rate is the lowest in the Capital Region at 4.4 percent. Leon County followed at 5.4 percent. Gadsden County was at 6.2 percent. There were a total of 10,393 unemployed residents in the Capital Region.
 

The top six advertised occupations in the Capital Region in June 2021 were as follows:
 

  • Software Developers, Applications
  • Registered Nurses
  • Sales Representatives, Wholesale and Manufacturing, Except Technical and Scientific Products
  • Managers, All Other
  • Customer Service Representatives
  • Retail Sales


With the #GitTheJob Challenge, young adults, their families and friends, and other supporters can post TikTok videos with the hashtag #GitTheJob to share their creative ideas on how to get their dream job. CareerSource Capital will review submissions and announce the winners on all social media platforms and media channels.

 

To participate in the #GitTheJob Challenge, individuals can post a video on TikTok with #GitTheJob between July 16 and July 31. To participate, individuals just need to open TikTok, head to the Discover page, and search for #GitTheJob. Find the challenge song, “The Git Up” by Blanco Brown, click “use this sound” and show CareerSource Capital Region and its followers how to “get the job!”

 

Once an individual has uploaded a video to TikTok with #GitTheJob, they can register for a chance to win a gift card or cash prize at https://www.careersourcecapitalregion.com/contact/DF_TikTok
