Regional Unemployment Rate Announced for July 2023

GADSDEN, LEON & WAKULLA COUNTIES, Fla. – According to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, the regional unemployment rate for Gadsden, Leon, and Wakulla counties was 3.4 percent for July 2023. This rate was 0.2 percentage point greater than the region’s year ago rate of 3.2 percent and was 0.3 percentage point above the state rate of 3.1 percent.
Wakulla County’s unemployment rate remained the lowest in the Capital Region at 2.8 percent. Leon County followed at 3.4 percent, and Gadsden County at 3.9 percent.
In July, the labor force was 201,615, up 6,835 (+3.5 percent) over the year. There were 6,785 unemployed residents in the region.
The top six advertised occupations in the Capital Region in July 2023 were as follows:
- Registered Nurses
- Retail Salespersons
- First-Line Supervisors of Retail Sales Workers
- Software Developers
- Secretaries and Administrative Assistants, Except Legal, Medical, and Executive
- Customer Service Representatives
- Sales Representatives, Wholesale and Manufacturing Except Technical and Scientific Products
