Regional Unemployment Rate Announced for July 2021

80 Job Sites Available for Job Seekers to Gain Work Experience Now!

 

TALLAHASSEE, FL– According to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, the regional unemployment rate for Gadsden, Leon, and Wakulla counties was 5.1 percent for July 2021.  This rate was 4.0 percentage point lower than the region’s year ago rate of 9.1 percent and is equal to the state rate of 5.1 percent.

 

Wakulla County’s unemployment rate remained the lowest in the Capital Region at 4.1 percent. Leon County followed at 5.0 percent, and Gadsden County at 5.9 percent.

 

In July, the labor force was 191,906, up 9,325 (+5.1) over the year. There were 9,692 unemployed residents in the region.


The top six advertised occupations in the Capital Region in July 2021 were as follows:
 

  • Software Developers, Applications
  • Registered Nurses
  • Sales Representatives, Wholesale and Manufacturing Except Technical and Scientific Products
  • Managers, All Other
  • Customer Service Representatives
  • Retail Salespersons

 

CareerSource Capital Region has 80 job sites currently available where eligible career seekers can be placed to work for six to twelve weeks and be paid while learning new skills with businesses in Gadsden, Leon and Wakulla counties.

“With schools starting back, this is the perfect time for teens and adults who aren’t in school to gain work experience and build their skills to boost their employability,” said Anthony Hubert, Work Experience Assistant at CareerSource Capital Region. “We see the signs in our community and our local businesses are actively hiring. We are excited to offer our Work Experience Program to give job seekers the opportunity to gain experience and skills for a long term career.”

 

The program provides individuals ages 16 and above with work experience in a variety of industries and provides access to local resources.  Participants can work up to 40 hours/week. The exact work schedules are determined with the worksites.

 

There are a wide selection of jobs available including:

  • Administrative Assistant
  • Receptionist
  • Construction Helper
  • HVAC Technician
  • Customer Service
  • Teacher’s Aide
  • Culinary Trainee
  • Lawn Care Technician
  • Stocker
