Regional Unemployment Rate Announced for JULY 2020

CareerSource Capital Region Hosts Virtual Health Care Hiring Fair to connect 

regional and local businesses with talent

 

TALLAHASSEE, FL – According to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, the regional unemployment rate for Gadsden, Leon, and Wakulla counties was 8.4 percent for July 2020.The region’s July 2020 unemployment rate was 4.7 percent higher than the region’s year ago rate of 3.7 percent and was 3.1 percent lower than the state’s rate of 11.5 percent. Wakulla County’s unemployment rate is the lowest in the Capital Region, as well as in the state, at 6.4 percent. Leon County was at 8.5 percent. Gadsden County followed at 9.4 percent. There were a total of 14,826 unemployed residents in the Capital Region.
 

The top six advertised occupations in the Capital Region in July 2020 were as follows:
 

  • Retail Salesperson
  • Sales Representatives, Wholesale and Manufacturing, Except Technical and Scientific Products
  • Registered Nurses
  • Customer Service Representatives
  • First-Line Supervisors of Retail Sales Workforce
  • Maintenance and Repair Workers, General

 

“Our Virtual Health Care hiring fair on August 25th will feature local and regional employers who are looking to fill openings in the medical and health care industries,” said Kelli Harris, Regional Recruiter at CareerSource Capital Region. “This is an opportunity for people to apply for a variety of jobs including traditional health care roles, as well as administrative, support, and dietary/housekeeping positions. Employers are doing their part to make sure new hires and staff are protected from exposure to COVID-19 and supplying the necessary PPE required by the state to protect their staff from exposure when they are onsite.”

 

Attendees for the virtual fair are encouraged to login dressed in business attire or medical scrubs for an interview and to upload their resume during registration. In addition, career seekers must also register as a job seeker on www.employflorida.com in order to attend the event.
