Regional Unemployment Rate Announced for January 2022

TALLAHASSEE, FL– According to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, the regional unemployment rate for Gadsden, Leon, and Wakulla counties was 3.5 percent for January 2022. This rate was 2.2 percentage points lower than the region’s  rate of 5.7 percent for the same period last year and is equal to the state rate of 3.5 percent. Wakulla County’s unemployment rate remained the lowest in the Capital Region at 2.8 percent. Leon County followed at 3.4 percent, and Gadsden County was at 4.4 percent. There were 6,691 unemployed residents in the region.

 

The top six advertised occupations in the Capital Region in January 2022 were as follows:

 

  • Registered Nurses
  • Software Developers, Applications
  • Retail Salespersons
  • Sales Representatives, Wholesale and Manufacturing Except Technical and Scientific Products
  • First-Line Supervisors of Retail Sales Workers
  • Customer Service Representatives
