Regional Unemployment Rate Announced for February 2022
Over $500,000 may be available to help Job Seekers find a rewarding career with Short-Term Training in Gadsden, Leon & Wakulla County!
TALLAHASSEE, FL– According to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, the regional unemployment rate for Gadsden, Leon, and Wakulla counties was 3.0 percent for February 2022. This rate was 2.1 percentage point lower than the region’s year ago rate of 5.1 percent and 0.1 percentage point below the state rate of 3.1 percent.
Wakulla County’s unemployment rate remained the lowest in the Capital Region at 2.5 percent. Leon County followed at 3.0 percent, and Gadsden County at 3.8 percent.
In February, the labor force was 193,078, up 6,066 (+3.2) over the year. There were 5,888 unemployed residents in the region.
The top six advertised occupations in the Capital Region in February 2022 were as follows:
- Registered Nurses
- Software Developers, Applications
- Retail Salespersons
- Sales Representatives, Wholesale and Manufacturing Except Technical and Scientific Products
- First-Line Supervisors of Retail Sales Workers
- Customer Service Representatives
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, unemployment claims drop to the lowest level since 1969. Through the Talent & Training Solutions program, career seekers may receive financial aid to gain training from education providers in Gadsden, Leon and Wakulla counties.
