Regional Unemployment Rate Announced for AUGUST 2021

TALLAHASSEE, FL – According to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, the regional unemployment rate for Gadsden, Leon, and Wakulla counties was 4.7 percent for August 2021.The region’s August 2021 unemployment rate was 1.6 percent lower than the region’s year ago rate of 6.3 percent and was 0.3 percentage lower to the state’s rate of 5.0 percent. Wakulla County’s unemployment rate is the lowest in the Capital Region at 3.8 percent. Leon County followed at 4.7 percent. Gadsden County was at 5.7 percent. There were a total of 9,017 unemployed residents in the Capital Region.
The top six advertised occupations in the Capital Region in August 2021 were as follows:
- Software Developers, Applications
- Registered Nurses
- Sales Representatives, Wholesale and Manufacturing, Except Technical and Scientific Products
- Managers, All Other
- Retail Salespersons
- Customer Service Representatives
