Regional Unemployment Rate Announced for April 2023
Priority of Service!! CareerSource Capital Region offers dedicated support to veterans seeking employment.
GADSDEN, LEON & WAKULLA COUNTIES, Fla. – According to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, the regional unemployment rate for Gadsden, Leon, and Wakulla counties was 2.5 percent for April 2023. This rate was 0.3 percentage point lower than the region’s year ago rate of 2.8 percent and was 0.2 percentage point above the state rate of 2.3 percent.
Wakulla County’s unemployment rate remained the lowest in the Capital Region at 2.1 percent. Leon County followed at 2.4 percent, and Gadsden County at 3.1 percent.
In April, the labor force was 198,780, up 4,030 (+2.1 percent) over the year. There were 4,914 unemployed residents in the region.
The top six advertised occupations in the Capital Region in April 2023 were as follows:
- Registered Nurses
- Software Developers, Applications
- Managers, All Other
- Sales Representatives, Wholesale and Manufacturing Except Technical and Scientific Products
- Retail Salespersons
- Customer Service Representatives
