Regional Unemployment Rate Announced for October 2021
CareerSource Capital Region has $700,000 available for
training and financial aid for eligible career seekers
TALLAHASSEE, FL– According to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, the regional unemployment rate for Gadsden, Leon, and Wakulla counties was 4.1 percent for October 2021.
The region’s October 2021 unemployment rate was 0.3 percentage point lower than the region’s year ago rate of 4.4 percent. Wakulla County’s unemployment rate remained the lowest in the Capital Region at 3.1 percent, Leon County followed at 4.1 percent, and Gadsden County was at 5.1 percent. There were a total of 7,991 unemployed residents in the Capital Region.
The top six advertised occupations in the Capital Region in October 2021 were as follows:
- Software Developers, Applications
- Managers, All Other
- Registered Nurses
- Sales Representatives, Wholesale & Manufacturing, Except Technical and Scientific Products
- Retail Salespersons
- Customer Service Representatives
- Management Analysts
CareerSource Capital Region has $700,000 available, through June 30, 2022, for eligible individuals to gain work experience and obtain classroom training.
“We are excited to have this much funding available to go straight to pay for someone’s tuition, books and fees or pay their wages while working with a local employer to learn new skills,” said Debra Dixon, Gadsden Career Center Manager. “We’ve seen first-hand the difference we make in the lives of our neighbors who have gone to truck driving or welding school or who have gained skills on-the-job and landed not only a job, but a career, they may never have had the opportunity for otherwise.”
The public is invited to attend a Training & Education Fair to learn about these paid opportunities and how they may be eligible for funding! Each eligible individual may receive up to $10,000 in financial assistance to complete training programs to learn on-the-job! Choose from a variety of industries and more than 100 educational programs.
