Regional Unemployment Rate Announced for NOVEMBER 2021

TALLAHASSEE, FL – According to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, the regional unemployment rate for Gadsden, Leon, and Wakulla counties was 3.6 percent for November 2021. The region’s November 2021 unemployment rate was 0.4 percent lower than the region’s year ago rate of 4.0 percent and was equal to the state’s rate of 3.6 percent.  Wakulla County’s unemployment rate is the lowest in the Capital Region at 2.9 percent. Leon County followed at 3.5 percent. Gadsden County was at 4.7 percent. There were a total of 6,938 unemployed residents in the Capital Region.
 

The top six advertised occupations in the Capital Region in NOVEMBER 2021 were as follows:
 

  • Software Developers, Applications
  • Registered Nurses
  • Managers, All Other
  • Sales Representatives, Wholesale and Manufacturing, Except Technical and Scientific Products
  • Retail Salespersons
  • Customer Service Representatives

Childcare is often a primary concern for individuals who are thinking about starting a job.  All three of the CareerSource Capital Region career centers in Gadsden, Leon and Wakulla counties have exclusive partnerships with local organizations who can cover the costs of childcare for eligible individuals.  It’s a win-win for anyone who has children under the age of 12.

 

CareerSource Capital Region helps individuals, ages 16 and above, gain experience and skills in a variety of industries with more than 80 job sites currently available for employment.  Participants can work up to 40 hours/week and start at $10.00 to $13.00 per hour.  Exact work schedules and hours are determined in coordination with the employer.

There is a wide selection of work experience jobs available including:

  • Administrative Assistant
  • Baker
  • Concrete Laborer
  • Dietary Assistant
  • Graphic Designer
  • Medicare Enrollment Specialist
  • Maintenance Technician (Grounds)
  • Office Assistant
  • Web Designer

“We have tens of thousands of dollars to pay for people to get work experience between now and the end of June,” said Rachel Oliver, Project Director at CareerSource Capital Region.  “We know, first-hand, from people who’ve completed work experience jobs, the difference it makes in the lives of our neighbors.  They gained skills while on-the-job and then landed careers they may never have had the opportunity for otherwise.  Some of them even work full-time at CareerSource Capital Region!”
