“Virtual” Hiring Fair Set For November 9th

Additional “Prep for Vets” event will help veterans prepare to get jobs at the fair

 

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –CareerSource Capital Region is proud to participate in the 9th annual Paychecks for Patriots – a hiring fair dedicated to Veterans, active military, their families and the general public. The first hour of the fair is open exclusively for military veterans and the second hour is open to veterans as well as the general public.

 

Paychecks for Patriots Virtual Hiring Fair

November 9, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

  • 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. exclusive hour for veterans
  • 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. open to the general public

 

Sixteen employers who are extremely interested in hiring military veterans in the capital area and who have current job vacancies to fill will be on-hand at the fair for video chats with registered career seekers.  Currently, the following employers plan to attend:  Manpower, Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, General Dynamics Land Systems, League of Southeastern Credit Unions, Capital City Bank, SynTech Systems, FBMC, Florida Department of Revenue, Florida State University, Big Bend Cares, Leon County Government, Accessibility Solutions, Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation, Florida Department of Children & Families, Florida Auditor General, and CareerSource Capital Region/Dynamic Workforce Solutions.

“This year’s Paychecks for Patriots virtual hiring fair is an awesome opportunity for veterans and non-veterans to connect with employers from a wide array of industries who are looking to fill positions in the Big Bend area,” said CareerSource Capital Region Sr. Director, Trish Yahn. “We know that it can be challenging to connect with directly with hiring employers; however, this virtual hiring fair will offer career seekers the ability to interact face-to-face with employers through video conferencing.  In addition, we are holding a special event to help veterans prepare for success at the hiring fair, and we hope they’ll join us for ‘Prep for Vets.’”

 

In addition to the virtual hiring fair, CareerSource Capital Region will hold a Prep for Vets lunch and learn event on Thursday, October 28, for military veterans to help them prepare for the hiring fair.  Tips will be shared regarding resumes and interviewing and essential information on using the virtual hiring fair platform will be shared.  Lunch will be served and door prizes will awarded. Registration is required and seating is limited.
