CareerSource Capital Region Partners with

Gadsden County Summer Youth Job Program

Empowering Gadsden’s Teens for Future Career Success!

QUINCY, FL – CareerSource Capital Region is excited to share information regarding its partnership with Gadsden County Government and the Gadsden Summer Youth Job Program, organized by the Gadsden County Human Resources Department. This collaborative effort aims to address some of the challenges faced by teens, including limited job opportunities, lack of skills and training, and limited work experience.

In today’s competitive job market, it is increasingly important to prepare young individuals for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. The Summer is the perfect time for teens to gain work experience, build their skills and their resumes, while adding key contacts to their career network, and the Gadsden Summer Job Program is sure to provide essential skills and experiences for the selected 200 youth this summer.

For Gadsden County’s Summer Youth Job Program, CareerSource Capital Region directly engaged with the youth participants for several hours this week to provide essential skills training, including but not limited to teambuilding, communication, and emotional intelligence, prior to the youth starting their jobs on June 26.  The Gadsden County Summer Job Training Program, designed and managed by the Gadsden County Board of County Commissioners and the HR department, gives teens, ages 14 -19 years, paid internships and work experience with Gadsden County Government departments as well as several local and national businesses within the county. All positions are scheduled for 20 hours per week and pay $11.00 per hour.  Applications for Gadsden County’s Summer Youth Program are typically accepted in the Spring each year, prior to the Summer session.

By working during the summer, teens gain:

  • Real-world work experience
  • Improved interpersonal communication skills
  • Career choice advice and educational guidance
  • Mentors & role models
  • Connections for future career opportunities
  • Resume building for future jobs or college applications
  • Interview practice

“The partnership between Gadsden County and CareerSource Capital Region demonstrates our shared commitment to equipping teens with the skills, knowledge, and support necessary to thrive in the workforce”, said John Hershey, Managing Director at CareerSource Capital Region. “We firmly believe that everyone has to start somewhere, and by providing early exposure to the working world, teens can better determine their preferences and make informed career decisions. By addressing these challenges, we aim to create a pathway to success and open doors to opportunities that will shape their futures positively.”

CareerSource Capital Region invites interested teens to submit a pre-application for its own Learn, Earn, and Advance Program (LEAP), which extends beyond the summer season.  LEAP is designed with a focus on skill development, access to job opportunities, ongoing support for long-term education and career success.
