Keviron Durant was a homeless, 24-year old veteran, living in a tent, 10-feet away from train tracks near the Railroad square area for nearly two months. He visited CareerSource Capital Region for SNAP benefits. However, he was told that snap assistance wouldn’t start until a later date and was put on Ari Maccow’s radar to assist with job placement opportunities.

CCYS secured keviron a motel room at the Sleep Inn and Suites. Keviron was provided a copy of the Second Harvest of the Big Bend’s “Find a Food Pantry” List and was also provided a City Walk Thrift Store clothing voucher to obtain suitable clothing for interviews. this voucher enabled him to receive two free shirts and two pairs of pants.

Due to the efforts of CareerSource staff and programs along with assistance from partner agencies, Keviron has been put into a better posture to find permanent employment and more stable housing.

He can now get to work using public transportation assistance, has suitable work attire, will be receiving SNAP benefits, and is earning money. Due to the efforts of all Careersource staff and partner agencies involved, Keviron has the opportunity to reenter the work force and gain self-worth and confidence.
