In December 2021, Te'Jhan Downing entered CareerSource Capital Region's Leon center with the dream of becoming a firefighter. After some discussion, he was advised that CareerSource Capital Region could cover the cost of his tuition and uniform, and enrolled him in the Firefighter's Academy.
When reflecting on his career path, Te'Jhan states, "It definitely helped me find my purpose... When I was originally at FAMU, I was kind of lost there. So it was a long run... I took a two year sabbatical and I was like, okay, I need to do something with my life. And I thought about the fire academy. Once I started going through the process with CareerSource and working with the youth program, everything just fell into place for me. They made my process easy."
