REGIONAL UNEMPLOYMENT RATE ANNOUNCED FOR OCTOBER 2018

CareerSource Capital Region to host Florida Department of Corrections Recruitment Event

TALLAHASSEE, FL – According to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, the regional unemployment rate for Gadsden, Leon, and Wakulla counties was 2.9 percent for October 2018.

The region’s rate was 0.1 percent lower than the state’s rate of 3.0 percent for October 2018. Wakulla County’s unemployment rate remained the lowest in the Capital Region at 2.5 percent. Leon County followed at 2.9 percent. Gadsden County was at 3.5 percent. There were a total of 5,558 unemployed residents in the Capital Region.

The top six advertised occupations in the CareerSource Capital Region (5) in October 2018 were as follows:

  • Registered Nurses
  • Computer Systems Analysts
  • Retail Salesperson
  • First-Line Supervisor of Retail Sales Workers
  • Heavy and Tractor-Trailer Truck Drivers
  • Management Analysts

“The continued success and security of the correctional system depends on hiring skilled, caring individuals,” said Kara Palmer Smith, Senior Director of CareerSource Capital Region. “This recruitment event will provide our local correctional facilities with the skilled talent to help keep our communities safe.”
