WORKFORCE BOARDS IN FLORIDA AND GEORGIA ANNOUNCE REGIONAL PARTNERSHIP

Florida-Georgia Workforce Alliance Develops Regional Talent Across State Lines

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – CareerSource Capital Region, CareerSource North Florida, WorkSource Southwest Georgia, WorkSource Southern Georgia and the Georgia Department of Labor Career Centers are pleased to announce the formation of a regional collaboration that seeks to develop a thriving talent market to meet the demands of employers, both present and future, along the states’ borders.

On August 12, the Florida-Georgia Workforce Alliance signed a Memorandum of Agreement among the partnering entities. This Memorandum of Agreement outlines the long term relationship that will exemplify the regional vision outlined in the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act that took effect nationally on July 1, 2015.

“This partnership sets regional communication and collaboration infrastructure in place that will further outline strategies for aligning resources and investments to meet the common goal for developing regional talent.”—Charles Williams, Executive Director, WorkSource Southwest Georgia

“I am excited about the possibilities for learning from each other and sharing best practices, but mostly about the increased services to our businesses who seek talent to fill their vacant positions. We look forward to working within this partnership to better serve job seekers and the people who employ them.”—Marcia Gaskins, Executive Director, WorkSource Southern Georgia

“It has been my vision for ten years at CareerSource North Florida that we would work across state lines in a regional partnership to get the best outcomes for our businesses who need talent, and the career seekers who need good jobs. I am proud of the progress The Florida-Georgia Workforce Alliance has made, and know it will continue to grow and bring high-value improvements to the entire workforce system for both Florida and Georgia.”—Sheryl Rehberg, Executive Director, CareerSource North Florida

“CareerSource Capital Region is looking forward to the future in workforce development. One of the most important factors in developing the talent for our businesses is that county lines and state lines do not matter when people are evaluating where to work. The Florida-Georgia Workforce Alliance embraces a broader vision for the future. Increased collaboration and communication across state lines will generate opportunities for both businesses and career seekers.”—Jim McShane, CEO, CareerSource Capital Region
