REGIONAL UNEMPLOYMENT RATE DECREASES IN APRIL 2017

 

Hiring Fair Featuring Top 2 Advertised Jobs Happening on June 21

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – According to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, the regional unemployment rate for Gadsden, Leon, and Wakulla counties was 3.7% for April 2017.

The region’s rate was 0.7% lower than the region’s rate for April 2016 and 0.3% lower than the state’s rate for April 2017. Wakulla County’s unemployment rate remained the lowest in the Capital Region with 3.2%. Leon County followed at 3.6% and Gadsden County at 5.0%. 

The top advertised occupations in the Capital Region in April 2017 were as follows:

  • Registered Nurses (364 jobs)
  • Computer Systems Analysts (210 jobs)
  • First Line Supervisors of Office and Administrative Support Workers (154 jobs)

“In an effort to help businesses recruit for professional and technology positions, we are hosting a Hiring Fair on June 21,” said CareerSource Capital Region Senior Director Kara Palmer Smith. “Employers with job openings in these industries, as well as in government and financial services are encourage to participate. We are expecting hundreds of talented career seekers to attend.”
