REGIONAL UNEMPLOYMENT RATE ANNOUNCED FOR MAY 2018

CareerSource Capital Region to host the Largest Hiring Fair of the Year

 

TALLAHASSEE, FL – According to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, the regional unemployment rate for Gadsden, Leon, and Wakulla counties was 3.2 percent for May 2018.

The region’s rate was 0.6 percent lower than the previous month and 0.2 percent lower than the state’s rate for May 2018. Wakulla County’s unemployment rate remained the lowest in the Capital Region at 2.9 percent. Leon County followed at 3.1 percent. Gadsden County was at 4.3 percent. There were a total of 5,968 unemployed residents in the Capital Region.

The top five advertised occupations in the Capital Region in May 2018 were as follows:

  • Registered Nurses
  • Computer Systems Analysts
  • Heavy and Tractor-Trailer Truck Drivers
  • Management Analysts
  • Network and Computer Systems Administrators

“Our hiring fair on June 20th will be a great opportunity for career seekers in the Capital Region to meet employers from the professional services, government and non-profit industries as well as in financial services and information technology sectors,” said Trish Yahn, Client and Business Solutions Manager. “In 2017, over three hundred career seekers connected with thirty-nine local businesses at this event. We are hoping for another great turnout again this year.”
