CAREERSOURCE CAPITAL REGION TO HOST MEDICAL AND HEALTH CARE HIRING FAIR

Sector-based hiring fairs strategically connect employers and career seekers.

TALLAHASSEE–CareerSource Capital Region (CSCR) will host its second sector-based Career Connections hiring fair on Wednesday, April 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Florida State University Turnbull Conference Center.  This hiring fair will focus on careers within the Medical and Health Care sectors.

Traditionally, CSCR hosts its annual regional job fair each January; however, this year, it’s hosting three sector-based Career Connections hiring fairs instead.  The hiring fairs differ from job fairs in that they feature employers with current vacancies for career seekers who are targeting the specified industries.

“The first hiring fair featuring IT, Professional and Financial Services saw great returns” said Kara Palmer, director of client solutions and advancement. “Several career seekers were interviewed and offered positions with local employers.  The goal is to make this hiring fair even more successful.”

The hiring fair is open to the public and offered at no cost to employers and career seekers.

Approximately 25 employers looking to fill full-time, part-time or temporary positions in the medical and health care fields are set to attend. Some employers plan to conduct on-site interviews.

In order to participate in the hiring fair, career seekers must be registered in the Employ Florida Marketplace at www.EmployFlorida.com.  Professional dress is required, and career seekers should bring several copies of their résumé.

To prepare career seekers, CareerSource Capital Region will host Employ Florida Marketplace registration workshops, résumé critique sessions, and professional communication workshops prior to the fair. The final hiring fair in the three-part series is scheduled for June 1, and will feature Government, Public Administration and Nonprofit sectors.

The Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce is the series sponsor for the hiring fairs; Capital Regional Medical Center serves as the medical and health care event sponsor.
