CAREERSOURCE CAPITAL REGION TO HOST IT, PROFESSIONAL AND FINANCIAL SERVICES HIRING FAIR

Sector-based hiring fairs strategically connect employers and career seekers.

TALLAHASSEE–CareerSource Capital Region (CSCR) will launch its first sector-based Career Connections hiring fair on Wednesday, Feb. 3 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Tallahassee Community College’s Center for Workforce Development.  This hiring fair will focus on careers within the Information Technology (IT), Professional and Financial Services sectors.

Traditionally, CSCR hosts its annual regional job fair each January; however, this year, it will host three sector-based Career Connections hiring fairs instead.  The hiring fairs differ from job fairs in that they feature employers with current vacancies for career seekers who are targeting the specified industries.

“A win-win-win is what we want both employers and career seekers to take away from the hiring fair,” said Kara Palmer, director of client solutions and advancement. “We are minimizing the size while maximizing the employer and career seeker connection.  Employers will have access to more qualified candidates and career seekers will have access to more sector-specific opportunities.”

The hiring fair is open to the public and offered at no cost to employers and career seekers.

Approximately 25 employers looking to fill full-time, part-time or temporary positions in IT, professional and financial services are set to attend. Many employers plan to conduct on-site interviews.

In order to participate in the hiring fair, career seekers must be registered in the Employ Florida Marketplace at www.EmployFlorida.com.  Professional dress is required, and career seekers should bring several copies of their résumé.

To prepare career seekers, CareerSource Capital Region will host Employ Florida Marketplace registration workshops, résumé critique sessions, and professional communication workshops prior to the fair. Two additional Career Connections hiring fairs are scheduled for April 6 which will feature Medical and Health Care sectors and June 1 which will feature Government, Public Administration and Nonprofit sectors.

The Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce is the LEAD Partnership sponsor for the hiring fair series.
