CAREERSOURCE CAPITAL REGION RECEIVES DONATION FROM SUNTRUST BANK

Donation will offer scholarships for WFSU’s American Graduate Program Youth

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Yesterday, CareerSource Capital Region received a $2,500 donation from the SunTrust Bank Foundation which will be used to pay for youth to complete CareerSource Capital Region’s Dynamic Futures Training program through the WFSU’s American Graduate program at Success Academy.

“We are so excited and thankful to be the recipient of the SunTrust donation,” said Jim McShane, CEO at CareerSource Capital Region. “We work very closely with WFSU and are always in full support of the great work they do in our community.  We appreciate both SunTrust and WFSU for supporting the youth in our community.”

Dynamic Futures is a work readiness program designed to prepare young adults for careers by teaching them personal presentation, resume writing, interview skills, and much more.  This program not only offers career training but also offers financial aid to pay for GED courses and exams as well as internship opportunities where they are placed on-the-job to gain additional skills.

“This funding will provide the opportunity for more students to participate in the Dynamic Futures curriculum BEFORE they graduate from high school,” said Kimberly Kelling, Director of Content & Community Partnership at WFSU Public Media. “It is our goal at WFSU Public Media through the national initiative American Graduate: Let's Get to Work to highlight and promote innovative programs that connect more youth to meaningful career pathways as they graduate from high school. Workforce development has a major impact in growing our tax base, eliminating poverty and the overall health of our community.”
