CAREERSOURCE CAPITAL REGION EXPANDS LEADERSHIP TEAM

 

CareerSource Capital Region Names Kara Palmer Smith as Senior Director and Promotes Three to Management Team

 

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – CareerSource Capital Region is proud to name Kara Palmer Smith as Senior Director. Kara has been with the organization since July 2013. She was previously the Director of Client Solutions and Advancement and had oversight of the Business Solutions and Executive Center departments. She also managed four cohorts of successful Startup Quest entrepreneurial training.

“Kara has exhibited outstanding leadership,” said Jim McShane, CEO. “As a result, she has been recognized internally and externally as a leader who demonstrates innovation and tenacity in developing a coordinated and comprehensive approach to workforce development in our region.”

In her new role, Kara will partner with executives and organizational leaders to drive corporate initiatives and will be responsible for developing fee-for-service models, employer professional development training programs, and an annual unrestricted funds campaign. Kara will also serve as a liaison with local, regional, and state-wide Human Resources, Economic & Business Development organizations and associations. Kara also is responsible for developing, planning, and implementing all of the organizations’ special events, managing the Business Solutions Team, Executive Center as well as driving results for special grants such as STEM Ready.


CareerSource Capital Region is also pleased to announce three additional management-level promotions:

Dee Robinson, was recently promoted to Policy and Compliance Manager.  Previously, Dee worked as the organization’s Compliance and Reporting Administrator since 2010.  In this management role, Dee is responsible for oversight of all federal programs administered by the organization including the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, Wagner-Peyser, Welfare Transition and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programs that are all directed to assist individuals in becoming trained and employed and self-sufficient.  Dee works closely with the organization’s CEO, CFO and management team to ensure the federal funds available through these programs are properly utilized and individuals and businesses within the capital region are assisted with solutions that will enable them to prosper.

Lee Collier, MNM, has been promoted to Business Solutions Manager. In her role Lee is responsible for establishing, building, and maintaining relationships with employers in the capital region. Lee has been with CareerSource Capital Region since June 2014 as an Account Executive for the Business and Employer Solutions team. She is currently a member of a local BNI group and works with local Chambers of Commerce to help businesses start, grow, and thrive by utilizing the solutions provided by CareerSource Capital Region. Recently, Lee was also nominated by the region for the state-wide 2016 Workforce Professional Champion Award which will be announced in September.

Trish Yahn, Certified Workforce Development Professional, has been promoted to Executive Center Manager. In her new role, Trish oversees the staff and operation of the Executive Center. Trish has been with CareerSource Capital Region since December 2013 as an Executive Center Career Consultant. In this role she guided professional and executive level career seekers throughout their career transition. She has been instrumental in the creation and organization of the ConnectionsCR networking and recruiting event. In addition she serves as the Big Bend Society for Human Resources Management Director of Workforce Readiness.
